Hiking
Last Thursday I was hiking with a friend on a two day trip with bivouac on a castle ruin. The text is in German, but you can watch the short video and look at the photos.
It’s really great to do something totally different than sitting the whole time in front of my computer…
Playing around with kdenlive
Again I have played around with kdenlive and with my Canon HF100 camcorder. I have edit the video a little bit in kdenlive, added some effects to it. You can watch the final result here:

Changing GNUstep directory in new windowmaker-crm-git package
Today I have released a new snapshot release of the windowmaker-crm-git package. There are some bugfixes and new features in this release, but the most important change is the GNUstep directory. I have changed this to /usr/lib/GNUstep. It was requested as a bug report here and it’s now equal to Debian’s GNUstep directory location.
That means, you have to change the directory for the WPrefs.App which has now the new location. All other things should be run without problems. If you have older GNUstep applications, you have to recompile them with the new location.
Mono 2.6 hit the repo yesterday
Yesterday I released Mono 2.6 and Monodevelop 2.2 for Arch Linux. I think we are the first distribution (ok, the SuSE/Novell guys are the first one, but that isn’t really a surprise. As you all know mono is sponsored by Novell) which ships the new mono release. To give you more possibilities with the framework, I have activate the new C# 4.0 Mono implementation in the package. As the release notes say:
If Mono 2.6 is configured with the preview mode, you will also get early access to Mono’s C# 4.0 implementation. This implementation is now available as part of the dmcs command. C# 4.0 named arguments and optional parameters have been fully implemented.
The next highlight of the release is the more complete 3.5 API coverage and it includes Microsoft’s open sourced ASP.NET MVC, ASP.NET AJAX and Microsoft’s Dynamic Language Runtime. If you want more information about the changes look at the linked release notes above or at this post from Miguel.
Report any packaging bugs to our bugtracker and if you find a bug in mono itself, don’t hesitate to fill a bug report at mono’s bugtracker.
Music, music and music…
Again, I’m writing about some music I have found on Jamendo. In my first post about music I have recommended Brad Sucks‘ album “I Don’t Know What I’m Doing“, now I’m recommending his other album. It’s not the newest, it was already released one year ago. Nevertheless it’s great! Listen to it:
